Positive preliminary building permit for “Life Science Campus” in Dusseldorf

• Modern mixed use planned to create synergies
• Climate-neutral campus through implementation of the highest sustainability standards

Dusseldorf, 04/05/2023 – Together with its Dusseldorf subsidiary ZARWEB, ZAR Real Estate Holding has received a positive preliminary building permit for the “Life Science Campus” project. An important milestone has thus been reached for the realization of the project, which is located in the district of Heerdt in a central location on the left bank of the Rhine. A modern life science property with around 61,000 square metres of gross floor space is being developed on the approx. 28,000 square metres site. In addition to laboratory space (S1, S2, GMP-ready, potential space for S3/S4), the site will include coworking, co-crafting, event and conference spaces. As of now, the pre-letting of the spaces and planning preparations for the submission of the building application will begin.

“Diversity and flexibility, the campus structure allows different uses to be combined and synergies to be exploited. Restaurant, cafés and green spaces offer opportunities to meet up – this mix of users enables a productive exchange. The individual building are connected with flexible zones that make the rental areas subdivisible. The campus offers space for companies in every growth phase – from start-ups to corporates,” explains Christian Weber, managing Director of ZARWEB.

Sustainability is central to the planning of the “Life Science Campus”. The holistic and integral energy and sustainability concept will take equal account of building construction and building use.
“There is enormous potential for climate protection in sustainable building and utilization concepts. These potentials are also accompanied by a responsibility towards the environment. Therefore, it is our ambition to develop a climate-neutral life science campus in the Heerdt district and to be able to meet the increase demand for contemporary research and administration space,” explain Martin Hofmann, Managing Director and CDO of ZAR Real Estate Holding.
